Setup by Tino Burton in 2016, Unifood Direct is run by current and past university students. Having experienced the plight of the poor university student, the company has made it their mission to start a food revolution by delivering students a box full of groceries and other surprises every two weeks.
Unifood Direct offer much more than the average subscription box. They offer different products every month, recipe tips and other non-food essentials such as shower gel and deodorant.
Feeding students all over the UK, they provide a service that helps people save more and spend less.
During Tino’s university gap year, he came up with the great idea to help students save money on their grocery bills.
He produced his business plan and made all the necessary connections with wholesalers and distributors, but realised he needed capital to put his idea into action.
Ready to get his business started, he applied for loans from traditional lenders who all rejected his application.
Tino spoke to Access Commercial Finance who went the extra mile to help source the funds, exploring every available avenue.
He was provided with a Startup Business Loan that paid out £18,500 within 3 weeks. Just what they needed to get Unifood Direct on their feet.
The Startup Business Loan allowed Unifood Direct to roll out marketing campaigns that encouraged a big increase in customer acquisition. Additionally, they were able to purchase the stock they needed for each box without putting a strain on their cash flow.
Tino is planning to scale the business in the next 12 - 18 months, acquiring more customers as well as bringing new products to market. Should further capital be required, Tino stated that he would not hesitate to contact the team at Access Commercial Finance to seek their advice.
“I’m very grateful for both the level of service received and the professionalism in every discussion I had with Andy and the team at Access Commercial Finance.’’
